Magnolia Zen Center Hurricane Retrofitting
Dear Friends:
I am writing on behalf of the Magnolia Zen Center, a Retreat and Training Center of which I am the guiding teacher.
The Magnolia Zen Center is located in Mary Esther, Florida, a small community on the Gulf Coast in Northwest Florida.
Mary Esther is located approximately 44 miles to the East of Pensacola, Florida.
Hurricanes in this area are a fact of life from June to October.
Fortunately, because of retrofitting, these structures have survived 2 major storms, Ivan and Dennis, without any serious structural damage, but plans need to be made for the future.
With Hurricane season just beginning, I want to make sure the primary structures are more secure.
I now ask for your help to further secure the 3 main buildings.
This additional retrofitting would also make the Magnolia Zen Center more suitable to serve the surrounding communities as a possible shelter site.
These buildings will benefit from Hurricane Shutters, and 2 Generators (one for each residential building).
These generators would be permanent and wired into the electrical system, they would be powered by natural gas.
They would automatically start as soon as the main power supply fails and they have the capacity to provide an adequate and stable power supply during the power outages that accompany such events.
The Hurricane Shutters will provide further protection from the severe conditions during such a storm.
The total cost of this project will be $15,000.00.
Any donation that you can afford would be most gratefully appreciated.
If you would like a donation receipt or project accounting please indicate this, and we will send you one.
Mail donations to: The Zaltho Foundation, Inc., c/o The Magnolia Zen Center, 9 Magnolia Drive, Mary Esther, Fl. 32569. ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE.
I thank you in advance for your support.
