About Zaltho

The Zaltho Foundation is addressing the causes and consequences of war, violence, and suffering in and among individuals, families, and societies. Using the tools of zen meditation and drawing on the teachings of Zen Buddhism, we educate people in the peaceful transformation of conflict and suffering.

The Zaltho Foundation, Inc. works with:

Combat and Military Veterans
Violence Impacted Communities
General Public
Zen Buddhist Practitioners

Our work includes offering zen meditation retreat for veterans and their families that provide a safe and supportive environment in which the veteran and family member can recognize and begin to heal the emotional and spiritual wounds of military service.

Violence Impacted Communities
We offer zen teachings and talks to trauma survivors, prison inmates, gang members, schools, and government organizations seeking to respond wisely to violence.

General Public
We provide workshops, talks, and zen retreats that present the techniques of formal silent sitting, breath awareness, communication skills, conflict resolution, and emotional healing techniques within the context of meditation practice.

Zen Buddhist Practitioners
We offer formal Zen Buddhist retreats with a focus on the manifestation of Zen meditation practice in daily life. These retreats take a variety of forms including residential retreats at Zen centers to include the Magnolia Zen Center, City retreats, Street Retreats (where we live homeless), Prison Retreats, Concentration Camp Retreats, and Pilgrimages through areas of current or historical conflict.

The Zaltho Foundation, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization.
